My name is Frank Martin. I live in Albuquerque, New Mexico now, but lived half my life in Santa Fe in the same state.
I am single and 67 years old. I have been self-employed since 1982 in various technology roles, including video, music and audio technology, but mostly in computer technology.
My degree is in Electronic Music from Berklee College of Music. I ran a recording studio and composed music for ten years before leaving that field and taking on what was then called computer consulting
; full-time. At that time, starting in 1989, that meant site visits to troubleshoot and assist with computers (no networks). My customers were, and still are, primarily home offices and small businesses.
So you might say I am a veteran computer help–desk and trainer–person with sidelines in network engineering, programming, cybersecurity, technical writing and now, web design.
By the way, the domain name for this website was invented as the name of fundraising database software that I created in 1991. It lasted 19 years, but that business is history now. I kept the name registered and am using it for this personal website now.
I've had lots of CompTIA certs (Network+, A+, Security+, Mobile+) over the years but let them roll off because I got tired of constantly paying them for more tests or doing the CEU dance.
I also earned various certs from Apple and Microsoft, which don't appear to have expiration dates:
I am also current with Axis Certified Professional (that's network video) and just got my Responsive Web Design certification from freeCodeCamp.
I have enjoyed creating beautiful, typographically-rich documents with both high-end design software (Adobe Framemaker) and MS Word. Here's a sample:

I've built a dozen or two networks, mostly copper but also some multi-mode fiber. As of this wriiting I directly administer nine networks used for ranch management and residences, which include NVRs and about 50 cameras.
I designed and co-built a mobile, trailer-born wildlife observation platform that uses a network camera recording to an NVR over Starlink, all solar-powered. Here is a block diagram of that system with some additional changes I hope to make that would enable remote monitoring of the power system: PDF 6.4 Mb
I started coding in the 4D language and built a software business around it. It was a one-man show—I did the documentation, web site, training, sales and support. That is business is no longer, and I have not worked in 4D since.
I have occasionally performed maintenance work in Filemaker.
My current interests are in HTML, CSS and Javascript.
